Two Jersey Cheshire Home residents made a big splash when they were part of a team featuring members of the physiotherapy and care team in the Swimarathon.
Jono Rothwell and Irene Hamon did their bit to raise funds for a number of charities and were supported in their efforts by staff from the Home.
Although he did not get into the water, the unmistakable tones of home resident Shaun Clark could be heard loudly supporting the Jersey Cheshire Home team when they took part on Friday 10 March.
The event at Les Quennevais pool from 8 to 12 March featured 4,000 participants who swam 28,000 laps over five days.
The Swimarathon, organised by the Lions Club of Jersey, raises money for local charities and Jersey Cheshire Home has benefitted directly in the past.
A total of 465 teams took part and swimmers included the Island’s new Lieutenant Governor, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton, even before he was sworn into office.
Peter Tabb from the Lions Club of Jersey said that about 25,000 Islanders supported the event by either taking part or sponsoring a swimmer.
