Marathon Man Steve runs London for Jersey Cheshire Home

Jersey Cheshire Home funds were boosted as a result of the efforts of Steve Lehan Port who ran the 26.2 miles in aid of the home’s Big Build fund.

Despite the soaring temperatures the Islander managed to complete the distance on a time of 3 hr 12 min and has raised about £300 for the charity

The 34-year-old administration clerk for the Income Tax department got into running about 8 years ago when a work colleague persuaded him to go on a 13 mile run. ‘To this day I don’t know why I accepted the invitation and I couldn’t walk properly for about 4 days after but little did I know that would be the start of the obsession,’ he said

This was his third London and he has ran the Jersey Marathon as well as theBrighton Marathon. He has also completed the Jersey RTR Ultra Marathon 4 times and run a Mountain Ultra Marathon in Cortina Italy. 

He said that he receives great support from my parents Dave and Yvonne as well as all my running friends. And his masseuse Sarah Corcoran ensures he is getting the very best out of his training which reaches 55 miles a week at peak times.

His  other hobbies involve listening to a wide range of music and playing other sports including Tennis Pool and Football. ‘I am also a long suffering season ticket holder at West Ham United,’ he said
