The annual Great Potato Sack Carry Challenge took place on Sunday 30th November and was a huge success, with 54 participants competing to lug 25kg of potatoes up the tough 500 metre course at Greve de Lecq!
The winning team were ‘the Surfers’ who completed the challenge in an outstanding time of 2.24m. Yet possibly even more commendable, the men’s’ individual event was won by Alistair Blair and Grant Feltham who drew with a time of 2.39m, Emma Connoly also set a very impressive course record of 4.12m for the women’s solo event. Jersey Cheshire Home was superbly represented on the day by Steve Martin and Philip Curtis from the Physio department who took part in the challenge.
Greve de Lecq was brought to life by this hoard of committed individuals…some in wetsuits, others in cowboy boots and huge thanks must go to all the entrants, along with the sponsors and those that worked so hard to make the event possible. Their efforts raised almost £1000 in aid of The Jersey Cheshire Home & The Jersey Brain Tumour Charity.
Keep an eye out for information on this years event which we expect to be even bigger and better than 2014!
