This year Jersey Cheshire Home was lucky enough to be chosen as one of the three main beneficiaries of the 2016 Collas Crill Island Walk. We would like to acknowledge all those participants who are not only committed to the training required to take part in this challenging event, but who have also found the time to request sponsorship from their friends and family.
The funds that we receive will be going towards making the final touches to our recently refurbished Aquatherapy Pool. One particular element of which is the installation of blackout blinds across the roof of the pool, which will enable us to maximise the new sensory lighting equipment that has been installed.
For many years now Cheshire Home has supported the round the island walk by manning the official check point at St Aubin – providing the walkers with words of encouragement, plasters, sun cream and of course cake, from morning through until night!
This year not only are we manning the check point but we’ll also be entering 3 JCH relay teams into the event. David Lord, General Manager commented “When the staff and residents found out we were to be one of the main beneficiaries this year, many were keen to take part – not only for the physical challenge but also to show their appreciation for the fact that we were chosen as a beneficiary of the 2016 walk”
The 3 teams (The Cheshire Cats, The Cheshire Tabbies and The Cheshire Moggies) are all made up of staff from JCH and it is hoped that some of our residents will accompany them on short sections of the route in their wheelchairs.
The staff members taking part are: Barbara Doyle, Keli Hamon, Phil Curtis, Nabel Abdelmoati, Ana Nunes, Georgina Harris, Elsa Pestana, Lesley Piziura, Rebecca Highfield, Cathy Stansfield and Rachel Cesar.
Please do sponsor them (and cheer them on if you see them out on the route!)
