Charity Runway Skate
Last weekend on Sunday 31st July the public were given the rare opportunity to skate along the airport runway in fancy dress, all in aid of JCH!
It was a bright and early start for all involved but thankfully the sun shone and the flights weren’t delayed! The skaters, aged from 8 upwards, decorated the runway with their colourful outfits as they skated a total of 2 miles out and back, between the scheduled take offs and landings. They all made great efforts to collect sponsorship for their skate and between them raised a fantastic £807 for our disabled residents!
Jersey Cheshire Home would like to thank all those that took part, dinosaurs, minions and superheroes alike, and especially thank those that made the event possible – John Bouteloup of the Jersey Inline Skate Group who kindly arranged the event in aid of JCH and Ports of Jersey who took all the necessary precautions to ensure our skaters were well looked after out on the runway.
Friends and family were able to watch the event from the balcony of the Aero Club cafe where they were later joined by the participants for a well earned breakfast.
It is hoped the event will be run again next year so if you’re keen to take part then please get in touch.
