Jersey Cheshire Home is now in the final stage of its biggest build project to date, enabling us to increase the number of residents we can accommodate.
We have been caring for physically disabled adults at Eric Young House for over 30 years now and during this time the demand for our services has steadily grown. Increasing the number of individuals we can support will not only benefit the islands community but will also enable us to upgrade those areas of The Home in need of modernisation.
The expansion, which is due to be completed in the next couple of months will provide:
- 3 additional en-suite bedrooms
- 6 “upgraded” bedrooms
- New dedicated therapy treatment room
- New “break out” area for staff along with improvements to the admin office facilities
- Improved wash rooms and accessible toilets
- Additional bed/wheelchair lift
- Enhanced nurses station
- New multipurpose area for meetings, training and activities
The cost of these works is significant and once complete are expected to be in excess of £2,000,000.
The Home is still working hard to fund raise for this project, having initially utilised its own resources to allow the works to begin, and opportunites are still available to support us – perhaps your company may like to sponsor one of our new rooms, the staff in your office might consider running a charity event to help the project, or as an individual you may wish to make a donation.
